Karate equipment

There are some pieces of karate equipment that are more vital to protect a person’s safety than others are. Some of the most important pieces of karate equipment include:

• Sparring sets – A complete sparring set is always a good purchase because it includes most of the pieces of karate equipment that a person needs in order to stay safe while practicing karate. Usually these sparring sets include a helmet, gloves and shin guards, although other items sometimes are included. A person should expect to pay somewhere around $50 for these sets.

• Shock-absorbing mouth guards
– Although any mouth guard is better than no mouth guard at all, perhaps the best mouth guards to use are those that are shock absorbent. These mouth guards are a little better at helping ensure that there is less likelihood for damage to the teeth from an abrupt kick or hit to the head.

• Chest protector – A chest protector is always a good piece of karate equipment to have for those who are competing. Because a punch from an opponent to the chest could be quite painful, these chest protectors can allow a person to compete without being in too much pain. Many tournaments require that these chest protectors be worn by participants.
There are other pieces of karate equipment, like shin guards and punching gloves, that many who practice karate also wear. Although there is more karate equipment that can be worn, it often depends on the tournament or dojo in which a person is fighting to determine how much karate equipment is needed and how much is too much.
